This week we cast the spotlight on our Ambassador Kate Ferguson, a showjumper from the NSW Mid North Coast.




  1. What is your greatest riding achievement to date? “Definitely completing my first junior at Tamworth World Cup and qualifying for the final.”
  2. What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Unpacking the dishwasher.”
  3. What advice would you give a rider who wants to join the PHR team? “Show great sportsmanship when out and about, support other riders, because that’s the image PHR has created.”
  4. What’s your most memorable facepalm moment? “There are so many but the one that comes to mind is on the way to Glen Innes Show jumping, I was singing along to Cold Chisel and my friend started talking about Jimmy Barnes. I couldn’t understand why. That’s when she informed me that Jimmy Barnes was a member of Cold Chisel. I love Cold Chisel but I HAD NO IDEA. Safe to say I was the laughing stock for the entire show because of it.”
  5. If you were a superhero, your superpower would be… “To fly.” PHR Ambassador Kate Ferguson
  6. What is the one thing you cannot resist? “Pork crackling!”
  7. What is your most exhilarating riding moment? “The feeling you get when you finish your round or run knowing that you did your best and it was a really nice round.”
  8. What is your hidden talent? “For anyone that knows me, this isn’t hidden, but I have a really quick wit. I love cracking a joke at someone else’s expense.”
  9. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person? At the end of last year I had a fall resulting in a fractured skull. This meant no riding for a while however it made me realise how much I loved the equestrian community and riding, and what a great support team I have around me.”
  10. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? To be able to speak multiple languages, that would be really cool.” Kate & Pickle
  11. What is your absolute favourite PHR outfit? “It’s not really an outfit but I love all my PHR breeches because they have pockets! Makes life so much easier.”
  12. What does a typical day look like for you? “My days are pretty jam packed, as I am in year 12. I start school at 8 am most mornings. On the way to school I call in and see the horses, unrug/prepare feeds, go to school. When I’m finished if I’m not working I try to squeeze a ride (or two) in then head home for some more schoolwork.”
  13. What is the most played song on your phone? “‘This One’s For You’- Luke Combs.”
  14. Which are your favourite events and why? “Zone 9 Sport and draft Qualifier at Dorrigo is always a cracker of a weekend, I also love the show run but the big events like Tamworth World Cup Qualifier are so amazing and eye-opening.”
  15. People would be surprised if they knew… “That I only started riding at 13, and have only been showjumping for 4 years.” PHR Ambassador Kate Ferguson
  16. What are your most overused words/phrases? “I have so many, ‘It’s a no from me’, ‘Love that for me’, ‘How good’, ‘Yeah, nah’, ‘Go my sista’. Could say my friends get pretty sick of all of them.”
  17. The best piece of advice you've ever been given is… “Nothing comes easy. Anything worth having is worth working for.”
  18. What is your favourite part about working with PHR? “Being able to see the amazing riders who also show off the awesome clothes PHR produce.”
  19. How do you define success? “When you reach a stage where you are content, where you personally are happy with your progress and have a met a goal.”
  20. What tv show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love? “Married At First Sight and Love Actually.”
